How do I get a summer job in marketing?

I am a senior year political science major at a pretty good private university. I have taken some international business and marketing courses and have become more interested in that industry as a career. I have some research, teaching, receptionist, and legal internship experience. How can I get into marketing once I graduate? What sort of summer job experience can help me with this? I will be in Miami, FL from May -August. What sort of marketing entry level positions could I have any hope of getting?

My husband went to school for marketing and he really enjoys the career. He found a marketing internship through the University’s internship listing, that helped him to get some good experience. I think it may have been unpaid, but it was still good to get his career going. It was difficult finding an entry-level position, so he actually worked in sales for a little bit until he found the perfect marketing job. So, it might not be the easiest career to jump into, but the internship experience would definitely help. He works for a manufacturing company and does a lot of developing ad campaigns, promotions, etc. There is also some market research work involved. He really likes the work because it is not the same old thing every day, he is always working on different things that keep the job interesting. It is fast pace and involves some travel for trade shows. Good luck!
